The mysterious pictures taken in the ghost’s house have some errors. In this fast-paced game you must figure out which item in the picture is correct — or which one is completely missing. Test your reflexes and your brain at the same time. Figure it out first and grab the right item to score a point. Grab the wrong one and your opponent scores instead.

Overview
Ghost Blitz 1 & 2 are racing games. Everyone plays simultaneously — flip a card, decode it as fast as possible, grab the right physical item from the centre of the table. First to grab correctly scores. We’ve combined both games in this guide since they play almost identically, with Ghost Blitz 2 adding a few optional extra rules.
Setup
How to Play
On each turn, one player flips over the top card. Everyone plays at the same time — there are no individual turns. Your goal is to be the first to grab the correct item.
How Do You Know Which Item to Grab?
Each card shows two items, each coloured. There are two possible scenarios:
Scenario 1
One item is the correct colour
One of the two items on the card matches its real-life colour. The other item is shown in the wrong colour. Grab the correctly coloured item.
Example: Red frog + blue brush on the card → the brush is its correct colour in real life → grab the brush.
Scenario 2
Both items are the wrong colour
Neither item on the card is shown in its real colour. This means one item is completely unrepresented on the card. Grab the missing item.
Example: White towel + green brush on the card → the grey tub isn't shown at all → grab the grey tub.
Scoring Each Round
- Grab the right item first → you keep the card as a point.
- Grab the wrong item → the player who was wronged (or the fastest correct player) takes the card instead.
- Replace the item in the centre and flip the next card.
How to Win
Play through the entire deck. Count up your cards at the end. Most cards wins.
Additional Rules (Ghost Blitz 2)
These rules are optional — we found them a bit much for casual play, but they add a layer for experienced groups:
- If the frog appears on a card, you must call out the item rather than grab it.
- If the frog or the other item is shown in its original colour, you must call out the correct item in a foreign language.
- If the towel appears on a card, grab the item that matches the towel’s colour.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Ghost Blitz 1 & 2 be combined?
Yes! Put all items from both games in the centre and shuffle all the cards together. Things get more chaotic — which is half the fun.
Which Ghost Blitz version is better?
We prefer the original Ghost Blitz. The card colouring is a little clearer and we liked the item set better. That said, both are great games — personal preference will vary.
What age groups work best for Ghost Blitz?
Age 7 and up can typically grasp the concept. We've also played it with people 60+ who loved it. For the fairest and most fun games, match players of similar reaction speeds.
